Citizen of the Year

The Columbia Citizen of the Year program was begun by the Acme Grange in 1977. In 1990, the Columbia Historical Society took over the award as the Grange ended its long history in Columbia. It is now being continued by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia Historical Society. The Columbia Historical Society creates the nomination form, reviews the submitted nomination forms, and selects the recipient. The Columbia Chamber of Commerce purchases the award plaque for presentation. The award is given to recognize a current resident of Columbia Township for his or her service to Columbia Township as part of an organization and/or as an individual that has contributed time, energy, and/or resources to the community.

Individuals or organizations are encouraged to nominate a person for this award to be presented during the Columbia Homecoming Festival.

Please print the below application and postal mail it to the Columbia Historical Society by the nomination deadline. Nominations received after the deadline will not be considered. You may also pick up a copy of the nomination form from the Columbia Township Town Hall or the Columbia Library during the open nomination period.
